As you move though the system you start to amass completed tasks intermixed with active tasks. I find that consistency is the key to making task management systems effective, but I am struggling to find a system that works when the work itself is not consistent in nature. 1Writer is one of the best notetaking apps for iOS. To complete your task, swipe from left to right on the task and TaskPaper gives you a very satisfying strikethrough that includes an tag and date you completed it. I know, it might be foreign to some, but as you browse the list, you really do know what needs to get done via your, what I call, internal constraint clock.

This is a great way to keep things in a concise list, other wise your list would grow to crazy proportions. My goal being, every month I would create a new list of tasks.
So, I jumped right in and made two projects: AutoFocus Oct 2010 and AutoFocus Nov 2010. Other to-do apps start with a database and build up TaskPaper starts with a sheet of paper and builds down. Hog Bay Software has done a fantastic job of capturing a more simple task management system that is based on Mark Forester's AutoFocus system. According to the developer, TaskPaper is a surprisingly adept to-do list with a paper-like user experience.
